About Us
The Autism Transitions Research Project (ATRP) is a coalition of researchers and stakeholders who are addressing gaps in autism research that focuses on autistic transition aged youth.
Research focused on autistic youth transitioning into adulthood has not kept pace with the rapid growth in size, needs, or the different experiences within this group. Research efforts to date have been limited in scope, conducted in siloes, and have not deployed a comprehensive definition of healthy life transitions that emphasize health outcomes.
Through a series of coordinated projects across multiple sites ATRP plans to conduct research focused on autistic youth transitioning into adulthood.
Our proposed project activities include:

1
The use of innovative approaches to data analysis that utilize population-level metrics to understand transition outcomes and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.

2
This initiative aims to improve autism support services by expanding and enhancing the Community Autism Peer Specialist (CAPS) Training Program to better serve the Latino/e community.

3
Capacity building for effective impact that catalyzes engagement of key institutions, program infrastructure, and policies that are prime opportunities to bolster improved healthy life outcomes among autistic transition-age youth and young adults.
Our Team
Our team is comprised of a varying set of researchers and spans multiple regions of the country. At our primary site, the Drexel University team has partnered with diverse stakeholders in Philadelphia for more than a decade, supported by a university that aims to be the most civically engaged university in the nation. Our research partners include Florida State, Boston College, Augusta University and UCLA.
